About Hotel The Old House

Hotel The Old House sits in a listed Georgian-era property on the corner of Wickham’s charming main square. Intimately cosy interiors and a distinct old-world ambience are the standout features of this refined B&B.

Traditional rooms with a classic vibe provide flat-screen TVs and hot-drink facilities. Some accommodations have four-poster beds and original timber-beamed ceilings. Garden suites in a separate chalet-style building boast sleigh beds, underfloor heating, and roll-top baths.

Guest can borrow bikes for free, plus there's a storage room for visitors' sports gear and equipment. Drying facilities for wet clothes, and secure off-street parking for bikes and motorbikes are also on hand. Complimentary Wi-Fi access is available throughout.

A full continental breakfast is included, plus there's a relaxed bar and lounge proffering drinks and big-screen sports action. There's an Indian restaurant 20 metres away.

Hotel The Old House is eight kilometres from the evocative ruins of Titchfield Abbey. The impressive Royal Armouries at Fort Nelson are a ten-minute drive away.

Positive Reviews

Lovely and spacious rooms

Rooms meet and for many, exceed expectations with their fresh décor, cleanliness, spaciousness, and overall charming ambience. The beds, pillows, and linens provide a restful sleep, and views from the rooms are lovely to greet or end the day with.

Beautiful location for a holiday

The atmosphere within the inn and immediately surrounding it lend themselves to creating the perfect getaway for peace and relaxation. Scenic views, beautiful countryside, and plenty of Nature trails and sites nearby make this an ideal base and retreat.

Staff are very kind and friendly

The staff are everything you would hope them to be! Polite, professional, and warm and welcoming. They make everyone feel at home, and promptly respond to requests and enquiries.

Negative Reviews

No insulation so noise easily comes through

The loveliness of The Old House is marred by single glazed windows, which lets all noise in. Outside sounds are easily heard, as well as noise from adjacent guests and nearby staff. Pack earplugs when staying here.

Food is overpriced and disappointing

The menu often fails to meet expectations. The food is overcooked or undercooked, bland, not presented well, and the portions are not always as desired. Thus, it's also considered overpriced and overhyped. Make sure to thoroughly read menu descriptions an

Be prepared for spotty Wi-Fi

Guests should keep in mind that this is a centuries' old property. Wi-Fi reception is spotty and inconsistent, so it's quite likely that you won't always have a steady signal, if any signal at all.
