Positive Reviews

Decent quality dining

Although not every guest was all that impressed with the quality of dining, most seemed to enjoy their dining experience. The food seems to be very much pub-grub but it's nicely prepared and comes at a reasonable cost. Guests like being able to eat outside during warmer weather.

Compact but clean rooms

Guests find the rooms at the Bat & Ball are clean if a little compact. It's unlikely that you'll feel wowed by either the decor or the choice of amenities but as a bed for the night with essential facilities, the rooms offer an acceptable level of comfort.

Friendly atmosphere

The staff at this pub/hotel attract plenty of positive comments from guests, with many suggesting that the staff helps to create a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

Negative Reviews

Some noise issues

While only very few guests mention traffic noise, there are regular comments about the noise from private functions. At least some of the rooms are located above the bar, so if you happen to stay at the same time as an event, you can expect to hear loud music until late in the evening.

Rooms difficult to access from pub

None of the rooms seem to benefit from particularly easy access from the pub. In fact, three of the rooms are accessed via a steep fire escape. Rather bizarrely, this includes the family room. Trying to get a pram up into the room is not going to be easy!

Lacks value for money

Although guests find the food is reasonably priced, a number of reviews suggest that guests are less impressed by the value for money offered by the rooms. Several guests are of the opinion that the rooms, although comfortable, are not of sufficient quality for the rates charged.
