Positive Reviews

Fantastic food

The food served up in both the Oak room and Saddlers is said to be some of the best fare in Kelso. In fact, it's so good that some guests return for the food alone. There's a great variety on offer, and there are quite a few specials during the week.

A warm Scottish welcome

The staff that work at this hotel are top class in their attitude towards the guests. You will feel right at home from the moment you walk in the door, and it seems that nothing is too much trouble for them. You can even ask for some advice on where to find the best malts in town.

Beautiful setting

A centuries-old hotel in a cobbled town square is as traditional a setting as you can get. Many guests are charmed by the quaint setting and find that it's a great place to revisit once in a while. You'll certainly be made to feel welcome by the friendly locals.

Negative Reviews

Rooms in need of an upgrade

There has been extensive work done in the downstairs public areas, and it looks great. Unfortunately, they have yet to start refurbishing the rooms and your initial pleasure at a lovely downstairs area is ruined when you see the old beds and poor windows.

Poor housekeeping

Keeping the rooms in top order isn't high on the list of priorities at this hotel where bathrooms and rooms alike are sometimes uncleaned between guests stays. This makes some guests feel that it simply isn't worth the money.
