About Holland Windmill B&B

Mont Perdu (Monte Perdido in Spanish) is a massif sitting astride the French and Spanish border. It was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1997. Mont Perdu itself is the third highest peak in the Pyrenees at 3352m, but the area also encompasses the cirques of Gavarnie, Troumouse and Estaubé on the French side and the Ordesa, Añisclo and Pineta canyons on the Spanish side.

These cirques and canyons are classic examples of the formations, and the canyons are the largest and deepest in Europe. The landscape of rock, lakes, caves and forests harbours abundant wildlife which comes under the protection of two national parks: the eastern part of the Pyrénées Occidentales National Park in France and the Ordesa y Monte Perdido National Park in Spain. The man-made aspect of the area is also of value, as it represents an agricultural way of life once widespread in the mountainous areas of Europe but now rare.
