About The Lantern Pike Inn

Housed in a building dating back to the late 1700s, The Lantern Pike Inn is a traditional country pub situated in Hayfield on the western edge of the Peak District National Park. The Kinder Scout National Nature Reserve is nearby.

There are five double/twin rooms, each one offering en-suite bathroom facilities. All rooms feature a flat-screen TV and hospitality trays and one has extra seating space and a four-poster bed.

Guests can enjoy the garden as well as free parking and complimentary Wi-Fi. The inn welcomes children but does not provide extra beds. No pets are allowed.

Room rates include breakfast. Guests can choose from a menu that includes a full English and smoked salmon and eggs. Lunch and dinner are available in the pub at extra cost.

The Lantern Pike Inn lies within ten miles of Lyme Park and the Blue John Cavern and a 50-minute drive from Manchester.

Positive Reviews

Great location

Guests love the setting of the Lantern Pike Inn. It's nice and quiet and places you within easy reach of great walks in the national park and well as being within a reasonable driving distance of areas such as Manchester.

Enjoyable dining

Reviews of the dining on offer here tend to be complimentary, with many guests enjoying their breakfast and other meals too. Guests find the menu sufficiently varied and also comment that they found dishes were reasonably priced.

Friendly staff

The management and staff at this inn appear to offer a warm welcome. There are occasional slip-ups when it comes to service in the restaurant but, on the whole, guests find the service to be friendly and attentive.

Negative Reviews

Limited Wi-Fi

One disappointing aspect of this property is that Wi-Fi is not available in the guest bedrooms. If you want an Internet connection, you'll need to go into the pub itself. As there are only five rooms, guests feel that having Wi-Fi in the rooms is not too big of an ask.

Early breakfast

A small number of guests found that breakfast was too early. The service finishes at 9:00 am and for guests on a leisure break, particularly those who had enjoyed the bar area the night before, this was a little too early.

Rooms need attention

Although some guests simply describe the rooms as cheap and cheerful, others highlight specific concerns about the standard of the accommodation. Common complaints include guests finding the rooms are cold and in need of redecoration.
