Positive Reviews

Spaced out in Glasgow

Rooms are attractive, quite spacious and thankfully quiet. You can upgrade to rooms where the shower is more like a spa. It’s brilliant. There is plenty of free parking here and it’s only a 30-minute walk to the centre of Glasgow, train station etc; – so, weather permitting, you can save on taxi fares. SECC is just across a footbridge, so that’s ideal.

A great start to married life

Members of staff are very friendly and obviously well versed in what is expected of them. They are very efficient. Wedding receptions are staged here and if the rest of the happy couple’s lives go as smoothly as this, they’ll be well blessed. Generally, the leisure facilities, including the pool, are excellent.

Appetising food

Breakfast is very good. Bar snacks are also appealing and are delivered promptly and without fuss.

Negative Reviews

Get lost

There’s a lack of instruction as to how to order food and where facilities are located. This is compounded by members of staff who assume that you arrive with a thorough geographic knowledge of the building. Whilst members of staff are fine and friendly, there is a remoteness which prevents it from being a genuinely welcoming hotel.

Short-changed on the Scottish breakfast

If you are looking forward to a full Scottish breakfast with black pudding, scones and Haggis … you won’t find it here. Some, though, may not see these exclusions as being a disadvantage.

Good; but not fine dining

When offering a fine dining experience, food choices need to be really extensive to cover the comprehensive needs of vegan, vegetarian and other guests with special requirements. They have yet to do this.
