About Adelaides

Located in Glasgow City Centre, the Adelaides is an eight room guesthouse inside a 19th century church. It shares building space with a nursery, a meeting room, and an auditorium, and is within walking distance of the Buchanan, Charing Cross, and Cowcaddens' stops.

Each room has simple clean designs, and includes free Wi-Fi, satellite television, and a tea/coffee maker. Two rooms can accommodate families up to four each, and two of the single rooms share bathroom facilities. Upper level rooms are only accessible by stairs.

Free Wi-Fi is also available in the foyer, and the staff is available 24/7. There's paid parking on the street (Sundays are free), or at a nearby lot.

The Adelaides only offers free continental or paid Scottish style breakfasts. Nearby dining ranges from formal, casual, and takeaway.

Many attractions, including Kings Theatre, Sauchiehall Street, Mitchell Library, and the Glasgow School of Art are a short walk away. Glasgow Airport is less than ten miles away.

Positive Reviews

Warm, welcoming staff treat you like family

The Adelaides staff are noted for their warm attention and doing whatever they can to accommodate preferences and schedules They're like the doting family members who want to make sure you have a relaxing good time, find what you're looking for, and are eager to visit again.

Central to sightseeing, dining, and transportation

The guesthouse is walking distance from popular spots such as the Necropolis historical cemetery, Kelvingrove Park, and the Centre for Contemporary Arts Queen Street and Central stations are also close by, as are several international and local dining options, and the Willow Tearooms.

Great value and lovely “home” atmosphere

High ratings go to the fair prices set for the spacious, inviting rooms The simple yet charming ambiance that's opposite of a chain hotel is exactly what attracts many to stay here Whether having toast or a full breakfast, the kitchen offers the right amount of space to either encourage banter, or keep to oneself.

Negative Reviews

No lift, only stairs to access most of the rooms

Unfortunately, stairs are the only way to access five of the eight rooms, including the two reserved for families Ranging from a few steps to a couple of flights up, keep this in mind when making reservations.

Lower floor rooms may hear street noise at night

Being centrally located to entertainment occasionally has its downside Excessive street noise, particularly at night, can filter in through the lower floor windows.

Quaint décor could use an update

The Adelaides has Olde World character But as quaint and lovely as that is, some wish it was more modern looking, and had additional room amenities Although it has Internet access and you can brew a cuppa while still getting dressed, this is not lodging that features spa toiletries and velvety cushions.
