Positive Reviews

Great central position

The hotel's central position was by far the thing that guests most appreciated about the Flandria. Most guests were in town to see the historical sights and experience the city life, and found the location in the Old Town ideal for their purposes.

Very good value for money

Again and again guests comment that, though the facilities at the hotel are fairly basic, they paid budget rates for a comfortable central hotel and were more than happy with the value they received.

Very helpful staff

The staff are almost universally given high marks for their genuine friendliness and their patience when helping guests settle in.

Negative Reviews

No parking available nearby

Some motorists point out that there is no parking nearby. The nearest parking garage has been described as being as much as 20 minutes' walk away. Unfortunately this is fairly typical in the centre of many historical European cities, and motorists may find that a more modern facility on the outskirts is more convenient.

Cracked floor tiles in bathrooms

Although this may be a problem in just one or two bathrooms, a couple of guests specifically mentioned cracked tiles in their bathroom. It gave them a poor impression, since their feeling was that it was relatively simple to retile the floor, or even just that section. By not doing so the management was seen as not paying attention to the details.

Stairs are very steep and narrow

Guests were in two minds about whether this constituted an actual complaint. Steep and narrow steps are very characteristic of older buildings in both Flanders and the Netherlands, so some found them quite quaint. On the other hand, people with mobility issues will have a difficult time getting to and from their room.
