Positive Reviews

Lovely Setting on a Canal

Guests absolutely love the location and setting of this hotel which is nestled along a canal. The views are spectacular and peaceful. You can walk along the canal, and if you are travelling with little ones, they will enjoy watching the barges go up and down the canal. This is in a country setting, but so very close to Birmingham city centre as well.

Fantastic Restaurant is Great Value

This hotel offers a lovely restaurant which is frequented by many locals and travellers alike. Meals are well prepared, cooked fresh to order. The carvery is splendid and the steaks are top notch. There is also a relaxing, well-stocked bar guests can enjoy.

Breakfast Buffet to Start the Day

The breakfast service at this hotel is very good, with plenty of choices, from cereals, fruit, and juice to a full English. The self-service buffet has plenty of choices, and guests especially love the eggs with runny yolks.

Negative Reviews

Noisy Late Night Atmosphere

Guests report that the walls and ceilings at this hotel are quite thin, meaning you can hear noise at all times of the day and night, including your neighbour's TV until the wee hours of the morning. The bar area often has events or receptions and you'll hear that noise as well. Traffic noise is another issue. You'll want to bring earplugs to help with sleep.

Rooms Need an Update

Rooms are starting to show signs of age and disrepair. Dim lighting creates a drab environment. Many amenities like coffee makers, air conditioning, and others are broken or not working properly. Cleaning is not always to a high standard. A room update would go a long way to raising this hotel's profile.

Lack of a Lift

Navigating stairs can be difficult for elderly.
