Positive Reviews

Handy location on the edge of the city centre

Guests welcomed this property's location in Edgbaston as it enabled easy access to city centre shopping, sports venues, universities and public transport options. There were cinemas and entertainment options nearby and it was also within easy walking distance of nightlife and bars around Broad Street. Motorists also said they appreciated the availability of on-site parking on request.

Praise for rooms

According to many reviewers, the rooms were well-appointed, clean and comfortable. There was frequent praise for the cosy beds and tasteful decor.

Friendly atmosphere and good restaurant food

This family-run guest house, restaurant and bar was reportedly staffed by a welcoming, accommodating and helpful team who fostered a relaxed and informal atmosphere. However, some critics took issue with the way occasional complaints were handled. Diners were largely impressed with the Southeast Asian fusion restaurant food.

Negative Reviews

Claims of drawbacks in some rooms

In the coldest weather, some critics said they felt a bit chilly in certain rooms and had to request additional heating. Meanwhile, the free Wi-Fi connection was reportedly patchy in some of the guestrooms.

Breakfast divided opinion

Even though many guests said there was a pleasant continental breakfast including fresh fruit, pastries and cereals, some critical reviewers disagreed. Some disliked the lack of hot options; others claimed staff were sometimes hard to locate at breakfast. Some diners felt the breakfast menu lacked variety.

Occasional noise issues

Some rooms facing the road were exposed to occasional traffic noise, according to a few light sleepers who said their slumber was disturbed. Moreover, there were also reports of occasional late-night noise when functions were being held downstairs or during peak periods in the restaurant. Reviewers often said rooms facing the rear tended to be the most tranquil.
