Positive Reviews

Get out and about.

The guest house is well connected; a train station linking it to Newcastle and Edinburgh is just a five-minute walk away and, in the direct vicinity, there are numerous independent cafes and restaurants. The owners of the guest house also run the fish and chip shop next door, which has proved popular with previous guests.

Excellent family bolt-hole.

Facilities are excellent for families. The family room comes complete with two interconnecting rooms; one with a king size bed for adults and the other with two singles, a play area with games and toys and a Playstation 2, with games, for rainy days.

Clean and comfortable.

Rooms are kept clean and tidy and are comfortable places to be. Showers are powerful, décor is modern and tasteful, and there are charming little features included, such as; open fireplaces and ceiling cornicing, to stop it becoming yet another faceless, contemporary establishment.

Negative Reviews

Seaside town issues.

One problem faced by many a seaside town is noise and mess. Not by people; but by the resident seagulls. Regardless of how well you sleep it is highly likely you will wake up to their early morning squawks.

No parking facilities.

For those arriving by car, it is worth being aware that there are no parking facilities available on-site. The owners may be able to loan you a permit to park in the local area, however, or there are usually spaces to be found in a nearby shopping centre.

Hot in the attic.

Rooms at No11b can, apparently, get fairly warm in Summer months and, because of the aforementioned seagull problem, you may be unwilling to open your windows too far. Guests staying in the attic room are likely to be most affected.
