The Royal Hotel (Portree, United Kingdom)

Some guests call The Royal a cute hotel in a perfect place in Portree. They like that it is only minutes from the port and bus station. Everything in the lovely town is pretty much at walking distances of the hotel.

Rooms are comfortable and clean and most guests liked everything about the rooms, from the large bath to the coffee making facilities. Guests love the views of the harbour from the rooms which they say are amazing. Guests find the Wi-Fi handy to use as the speed is fast and the range is so good that it can be accessed even in the car park of the hotel.

The staff at the hotel is friendly to interact and helpful. Guests say the breakfast served at the hotel is well cooked and plentiful. Guests also enjoy the meals at the snack bar and the locally brewed beers served at the pub of the hotel.

Guests say that the housekeeping staff of the hotel is rather heavy handed. The beds shook every time the members handled the linen cupboard doors as they slammed them shut loudly. Guests say they also talked too loudly and their chatter is disturbing. Though check-out is at 11 in the mornings, guests are miffed that the staff appears to clear the rooms at nine.

Some guests did not like the odd smell present in the corridors and stairwell. They also say that the hotel appears dated.

Several guests say that the service in the restaurant is slow. They say some of the younger members of the staff are not very organized or friendly.
