New Palace is a big hostel, maybe the oldest one in the center of Cairo, midway between the Egyptian museum and railway station. There are 32 rooms, 25 with private bath, TV and AC; all the rooms have wifi and there is an open air rooftop with water fountain where clients have their breakfast, watch TV and meet other guests from all over the world. The hotel is on the 6th and the 7th floor; most of the rooms on the 6th floor have a balcony overlooking 3 roads while the ones on the seventh floor are without balcony but next to the rooftop. The hotel is located on 17th Soliman Elhalbi street from Emad Eldin street next to Cosmos movie theater. We have a travel desk at Cairo airport in all arrival terminals working 24 hours/day to meet our clients. The hotel is close to a shopping area and a lot of restaurants serving all kinds of Egyptian and international food, food shops, a lot of cafes. It is in the heart of the city. We are trying to let our clients feel home and do as much as we can to let them enjoy their stay at the hotel and feel very comfortable.

This AI summary is just meant to provide a quick overview. Consider checking important info with the property.
The hotel offers a unique blend of a central downtown location and a warm, family-like atmosphere, making guests feel at home. Its signature feature is its prime position, allowing easy access to Cairo's vibrant city life and major attractions, which is particularly appealing for sightseers and budget travelers looking to explore the city on foot. The consistently praised helpfulness and friendliness of the staff contribute significantly to this welcoming environment, making it a good fit for solo travelers and couples seeking a personal touch. While the hotel provides a comfortable base for exploring, guests should manage expectations regarding the age of the building and be prepared for potential noise from the bustling city below. To enhance your stay, consider bringing mosquito repellent, as some reviews mention their presence, and be aware that the hotel primarily operates on a cash-only basis for payments.
Facilities & Amenities
Guests find the hotel's amenities generally functional, though some aspects reflect the building's age. Most rooms are equipped with an air conditioner, a fridge, and a TV, providing essential comforts. A kettle with tea varieties is often available upon request, adding convenience. While the Wi-Fi connectivity is present, some guests report it can be weak or unreliable in certain rooms, leading to frequent disconnections. The hotel is located on the sixth and seventh floors of an older building, and an elevator is available, though its condition is noted as old or "sketchy" by some. Hot water is generally available for showers, but a few guests mentioned needing staff assistance to activate it. Many rooms also feature a balcony, offering views of the city.
Cleanliness & Room Comfort
Feedback on room cleanliness and comfort is mixed, with many guests appreciating the effort made, while others note areas for improvement. Most guests find the rooms to be adequately clean upon arrival, with comfortable beds and spacious layouts. However, some reviews mention issues such as dirty bedsheets, a general dusty smell, or rooms not being thoroughly cleaned regularly. A significant recurring concern is the presence of mosquitoes, which can disrupt sleep, though the reception often provides insecticide. Noise levels are frequently cited as a challenge, with sounds from the street, barking dogs, and thin walls allowing noise from adjacent rooms to be heard, impacting sleep quality. The bathroom facilities are consistently described as old and in need of refurbishment, with issues like broken showers, lack of curtains, or unpleasant smells. Some older rooms also have insufficient heating.
Dining & Food Quality
The hotel provides breakfast as part of the stay, and guest opinions on it are varied. Many guests describe the breakfast as filling and tasty, appreciating its inclusion and the convenience it offers. However, some find the options to be quite basic and limited, with the same menu offered daily, which can become repetitive for longer stays. A few reviews mention that the breakfast service can be very slow, leading to delays in starting the day. The hotel features a small cafeteria or restaurant area, often located on the rooftop, which provides a pleasant setting for meals and offers views of the city. While the breakfast is generally seen as acceptable for the price point and a good start to the day, guests seeking a wider variety or more elaborate dining experience might consider exploring local eateries nearby.
Location & Accessibility
The hotel's central location in downtown Cairo is consistently highlighted as one of its strongest assets. Guests appreciate being within easy walking distance to numerous popular attractions, including the Egyptian Museum, Tahrir Square, and the Nile River. It is also conveniently close to major transportation hubs, such as Ramses train station and several metro stations, making it simple to navigate the city and reach further destinations. The surrounding area is vibrant and bustling, offering a wide array of shopping areas, restaurants, and cafes. While the building itself is described as old and can be challenging to locate initially due to differing signage, its strategic position ensures guests are well-connected to the heart of Cairo's cultural and commercial life.
Staff & Service
The staff and service at the hotel receive overwhelmingly positive feedback, often cited as the highlight of guests' stays. Reviewers consistently praise the team for being exceptionally friendly, helpful, cooperative, and attentive. Guests feel a strong sense of welcome and a family-like atmosphere, with staff going above and beyond to assist. This includes quick check-in and check-out processes, accommodating requests like early check-in or room changes, and providing extra amenities such as towels. Furthermore, the staff are highly commended for their assistance with logistics, offering valuable advice on itinerary planning, arranging airport transfers, helping with transportation, and even assisting with finding local shops or scheduling appointments. Their dedication to ensuring a comfortable and smooth experience significantly enhances the overall visit.
Additional Information
Guests should be aware that the hotel is situated on the sixth and seventh floors of an older building, which contributes to its unique character but also means navigating an older structure. A notable point for travelers is the hotel's payment policy, as many reviews indicate that it does not accept credit cards, requiring guests to pay in cash. This is an important detail to consider for financial planning during the stay. While the hotel is generally seen as a budget-friendly option, some guests note that the overall infrastructure appears worn out and could benefit from refurbishment. For those concerned about mosquitoes, the reception desk typically provides insecticide spray upon request, offering a practical solution to a common issue mentioned in reviews.
