Base Rotorua is a hostel in the North Island city of Rotorua, New Zealand. Centrally located to all of North Island’s main cities, Rotorua is known for its geothermal activity, featuring geysers and hot mud pools, and is surrounded by a collection of lakes known as the “Lakes of Rotorua”. Base Rotorua has views of the Kuirau geothermal park and is a short walk away from the lake and the city’s other attractions, including several cafés, shopping facilities, restaurants and bars. There are a selection of accommodation options available: double and twin private rooms, four, six, eight or ten bed mixed dorms or twelve bed girls only dorms. All rooms and dorms have access to wireless internet, with some also having their own balconies and ensuite bathrooms. Facilities include a geothermally heated outdoor pool, a TV lounge, the onsite “Lava Bar”, free parking with facilities for campervans and a travel desk providing guests with information on local attractions and Māori culture. Shared dorms also feature under bed storage lockers and the hostel has luggage storage facilities available. Base Rotorua is roughly ten kilometres away from Rotorua International Airport.
