Hotel The Shelleys is an upscale, 16th century, four-star hotel surrounded by landscaped gardens and located on the Lewes High Street. There are 19 individually decorated rooms, all with Georgian origins and equipped with free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs and tea and coffeemakers. Some rooms also have four poster beds and unique chandeliers, while some have sofas and arm chairs. Hotel The Shelleys Hotel has function and wedding spaces available. On-site parking and garden is also present. There’s a classy restaurant with high ceilings ‘Apostrophe’ that offers seasonal dishes, and there’s also a kids’ menu. The restaurant has splendid views of Down South and the garden. The fact that the hotel building dated back to the 16th century and is very ornate and palatial was of great importance to the guests. They loved the way the colonial building was maintained and had preserved its Georgian touches like unique chandeliers and a stone floored reception. Some guests even said that it was better than the recent modern hotels.
Rooms at the hotel are clean, comfortable and spacious. All of them are well furnished, have cosy beds as well as designer toiletries, which makes stay of the guests royal in a way. Plus, there is free Wi-Fi available in all the rooms. Moreover, all the rooms have magnificent views of the nicely landscaped gardens.
The hotel enjoys a central location in Lewes and there are many tourist attractions in the town, plus it has good transport connectivity which is a great plus point for the guests. Moreover, in spite of being on the High Street, the hotel is quiet and pleasant. Breakfast served at the hotel was also very delicious and there was a lot of variety available in the selection of the same.
Although there are mixed reviews about the decor, some guests have said that the decor at the hotel is pretty dated and in need of refurbishment.
