Very friendly and helpful, the staff here are a real asset and a high point of most visits.

Rooms are clean and well maintained and cleaned on a day to day basis. The bed and bath are both fine. Yes, they are somewhat dated but that doesn't detract from the cleanliness and comfort offered. A further factor is the attractive price which compares well with similar hotels in the area.

Not only is the location an ideal base from which to explore the area, it is also quiet and not 'seedy'. You feel perfectly relaxed and secure here. The free breakfast and on-site (seasonal) pool add to the enjoyment.

Mold in the bathroom and paint peeling off the ceiling highlights the need for an overhaul; something that is reflected again in dated furnishings and furniture. They could, though, easily tackle minor problems such as no number on the door, broken toilet roll holders and broken furniture.

Bed and mattress seem to be new and comfortable and the bathroom is clean and sparkling. That's the end of the good bit! Carpets are disgustingly dirty, there's no smoke alarm, the shower has divorced itself from the wall and has not been re-united, there are stains on the ceiling and carpet. Curtains let in masses of light.

The danger of cutting down on staff numbers is manifested here where arriving guests are met with no desk staff or management. Instead, there's a note containing a telephone number to ring in the event of a query and a room key with your name on it. Security, then, is non-existent.
