Evening meals and breakfasts served in the restaurant have attracted plenty of positive remarks from reviewers. If you have a big appetite take note – portion sizes are said to be generous. The range of local ales and malt whiskies available in the hotel bar also won praise.

The Station Hotel’s current owners have refurbished all eight rooms since it changed hands in 2011. Visitors have generally found the rooms to be clean, comfortable and well-appointed with modern furnishings and decoration.

Just a two-minute walk from the hotel you can find the centre of picturesque Avoch village with its beach and harbour. Many guests have reported enjoying a quiet stay in the peaceful surroundings of the Black Isle, away from the hustle and bustle of Inverness.

Many guests described sleeping well at the hotel, but there were a couple of grumbles suggesting some of the beds could have been more comfortable. It is worth noting that there are also plenty of reviews describing the beds as being comfortable, perhaps showing that it can be a matter of personal taste.

While not a widely encountered problem, from time to time there have been guest reports of problems accessing the free Wi-Fi in the hotel. These varied from to speed and signal issues to not being able to detect the network at all. However, many guests reported no problems with connecting to the Internet.

A few guests have recommended light sleepers to avoid rooms beside the main road leading to the village due to occasional traffic noise in the mornings. However, in rural Scotland you are unlikely to be routinely disturbed by it.
