This hotel's location near the wharf in the Sandviken district appealed to many reviewers as it was away from the hustle and bustle of the heart of downtown Bergen yet close enough to be within walking distance or a short bus ride from the city centre for sightseeing, museums, heritage areas, shopping and dining options. Another bonus was that there were supermarkets and bus stops just steps away. Drivers appreciated the proximity of petrol stations and the E-39 road for uncomplicated access to the airport, national parks and regional attractions.
The reportedly simple but comfortable, clean and bright rooms with generously-sized windows appealed to many travellers as did the cosy beds. Several budget-conscious guests said the rooms were relatively inexpensive for mid-range accommodation in an often expensive city.
Motorists welcomed the availability of parking at the hotel, but as there were only ten spaces some latecomers during busy times had to scour the local area for alternatives. It also disappointed certain drivers that they had to pay for the hotel's parking.
Several guests remarked that they found some of the rooms to be pretty small, especially when fully occupied. Some critics believed certain en suite bathrooms could have been brought up to a more modern standard to address issues like damaged tiling or tired-looking fittings.
Although reviewers liked the provision of free Wi-Fi, some claimed the signal was occasionally unstable or patchy in some areas of the hotel.
