Komodor is a 3-star hotel on Dubrovnik’s green Lapad Peninsula, displaying typical Dalmatian stone architecture a few minute’s walk from Adriatic Sea beaches. The old town is ten minutes away via a regular bus service, Lapad Bay Promenade’s shops, restaurants and bars are five minutes’ walk and the hotel has an outdoor swimming pool and terrace.
Each of the 63 rooms has an en-suite bathroom with shower/tub, some have balconies with sea or park views, and all come with free Wi-Fi, satellite TV, telephone, hairdryer, room service and air conditioning.
A conference room fitting 30-40 people, free parking, and for a charge, laundry/ironing services, an internet corner and airport shuttles are available.
The restaurant offers light Dalmatian-style salads, grilled dishes, and a bar is also present.
Dubrovnik’s main bus station and ferry port are within 3.2 kilometres of Komodor, and Dubrovnik Airport is 23.3 kilometres away.
Guests found Komodor to be well-located due to the nice little shingle beach a few minutes away, the relaxed feel away from the tourist masses, and the easy bus ride down to Dubrovnik Old Town. The Lapad location also means there is room for free parking.
Lovely character, balconies, pool, terrace.
The stone building was found to have a lovely old character to it, the pool and sundeck with plenty of loungers were well-appreciated, and many of the clean and functional rooms come with their own balconies.
Excellent service from staff.
Those who stayed found the staff members to be passionate about their jobs and hotel, overall, very attentive helpful and friendly, and said they put on a decent breakfast buffet with a wide range for all tastes, as well as a reasonable restaurant offering.
Rooms simple, some dark with no view.
Overall, the rooms are relatively simple, and a few guests found certain rooms to be dark and without views, but as a few people put it, you do not come to Dubrovnik to stay put inside, so chances are you will be too busy out exploring to pay much notice.
A bit dated and in need of facelift.
Some of those who stayed at Komodor considered the bedrooms and bathrooms to be dated and in need of a facelift, but were otherwise very clean and in good working order.
Wi-Fi not good apart from reception, no fridge.
The Wi-Fi was considered to be intermittent by some guests, who said it only seems to work properly in reception, while a few others were disappointed to find there were no room fridges.
