The hotel is widely appreciated for its convenient location and the significant advantage of having a highly-rated restaurant right next door, making dining exceptionally easy for guests. This combination makes it an ideal choice for sightseers looking to explore nearby attractions and couples seeking a quiet, accessible getaway. Many guests highlight the spacious rooms and the generally clean environment as key positives, contributing to a comfortable stay. The friendly and helpful staff also consistently receive praise, enhancing the overall guest experience. While most find the accommodations to be a good value, some note inconsistencies in bed comfort. To ensure a more personalized stay, guests might consider bringing their own preferred pillows or a mattress pad, and it's advisable to confirm specific in-room amenities like hair dryers or irons upon arrival.
Facilities & Amenities
Guests frequently comment on the practical amenities available, noting the presence of a refrigerator and microwave in many rooms, which adds convenience for longer stays or storing snacks. Some rooms also feature a balcony, providing an outdoor space for relaxation. However, several guests mention the absence of certain common hotel facilities, specifically a swimming pool or a bar on the property, indicating a more basic offering. While some reviews note the availability of free Wi-Fi, others report issues with connectivity or poor cell service, suggesting inconsistency. A dehumidifier is often found in rooms, which some guests appreciate for managing humidity, though its presence sometimes points to underlying moisture concerns. There are also recurring comments about the lack of standard in-room items such as hair dryers, irons, bath soap, and shampoo, which guests advise bringing themselves.
Cleanliness & Room Comfort
Feedback on room cleanliness and comfort is notably mixed. Most guests find their rooms to be clean and spacious, often appreciating the comfortable beds and quality linens that contribute to a restful night's sleep. Some rooms are described as recently renovated or updated, offering a fresh appearance. However, a significant number of reviews report issues such as musty smells, cigarette smoke odors, or general datedness in some areas. Concerns about bugs, including ants and spiders, are also mentioned by several guests. While some bathrooms are praised for being clean and roomy with good shower pressure, others are described as dirty, old, or having issues like loose toilet seats, mold, or leaking fixtures. Noise levels are also a point of varied experience; some guests enjoy a quiet stay, while others are disturbed by thin walls or noisy AC units.
Dining & Food Quality
A standout feature consistently praised by guests is the restaurant located right next door to the property. This establishment is frequently highlighted for its delicious food, particularly the breakfast offerings, which many describe as "amazing" and "top-notch." Guests appreciate the convenience of having such a highly-regarded dining option within easy walking distance, making meal times simple and enjoyable. The restaurant is noted for being a popular spot, even among locals, indicating its quality. However, it is important to note that the hotel itself does not provide breakfast or other on-site dining facilities, meaning guests rely entirely on the adjacent restaurant or other nearby establishments for their meals. Some guests also mention that the in-room coffee provided is not always to their liking, suggesting a preference for coffee from the neighboring eatery.
Location & Accessibility
The hotel's central location is a major draw for guests, consistently receiving high praise for its convenience. It offers easy access to a variety of popular destinations, including Wickford Village, Newport, and several beaches, making it an excellent base for exploring the area. Guests appreciate being close to attractions while often finding the hotel to be a more affordable option compared to staying directly in more expensive tourist hubs. The property is situated in a generally quiet area, contributing to a peaceful stay for many. Parking is available and often described as convenient, with spaces typically located right outside the rooms. While the location is ideal for those with a car, guests should be aware that public transportation options are not frequently mentioned in reviews, implying a reliance on personal vehicles for getting around.
Staff & Service
The staff at the hotel consistently receive high marks for their friendliness, helpfulness, and attentiveness. Guests frequently commend the smooth check-in and check-out processes, noting that staff are often flexible and accommodating, even for late arrivals. Many reviews highlight instances of staff going above and beyond, such as providing assistance with transportation or addressing guest concerns promptly. The overall impression is one of a welcoming and supportive environment. However, feedback regarding housekeeping is mixed; while some guests appreciate the service, others report inconsistencies, such as rooms being serviced despite a "Do Not Disturb" sign, or issues with towel replenishment. Despite these occasional discrepancies, the positive interactions with the front desk and general staff are a recurring theme, contributing significantly to guest satisfaction.
Additional Information
The hotel is noted for its pet-friendly policy, which is a significant advantage for guests traveling with animals, though some mention challenges with finding suitable outdoor areas for pets. Many guests perceive the property as more of a motel than an "inn," particularly due to its layout and more basic amenities, which influences their expectations. The exterior appearance of the property receives mixed comments, with some describing it as older or in need of cosmetic updates like painting, while others find it perfectly acceptable. A recurring issue for some guests is the occasional lack of hot water in rooms, which can be an inconvenience. Additionally, some guests report that housekeeping services are not always provided daily or that they need to request fresh linens and towel replenishment themselves, indicating a more self-service approach in some instances.
