The Bug Backpackers

With an interior design that pays homage to the famed VW Bug, The Bug Backpackers offers budget lodgings in the suburbs. Set across three houses, the hostel features spacious gardens with hammocks and a barbecue area. Dorms rooms sleep up to eight and feature bunk beds and individual reading lights. Bedding is supplied, while shared bathroom facilities are provided. Private rooms are also available, some with private bathrooms. A studio apartment, complete with kitchenette and lounge area, can be booked. A number of communal spaces are located across the property, while indoor and outdoor games – including table football and ping pong – are available. Guests can make use of Wi-Fi, parking, laundry facilities, and bike hire, all free of charge. Self-catering guests can make use of two well-equipped kitchens, while indoor and outdoor eating spaces are provided. A simple breakfast is offered for free each morning. The Bug Backpackers is two kilometres from Christ Church cathedral and a 15-minute drive from Tahunanui Beach.
