Featuring complimentary Wi-Fi and breakfast, parking is also free of charge. Guests can take their pick of 36 rooms and suites, or 11 self-catered cottages with a full kitchen and up to four bedrooms. All accommodation has a pullout sofa, tea and coffee making facilities, and a 42" or 50" TV with Sky Sports and BT Sports channels. Garden rooms have access to a furnished patio. A spacious fitness centre with all of the latest equipment is on-site. The contemporary restaurant has a modern take on British cuisine, and the terrace is a great place to enjoy a summer afternoon. The bar has architecture dating back 400 years and boasts a cosy fireplace. The Haynes Motor Musuem is a 15-minute drive from The Hollies Hotel.
Many guests were repeat visitors to Hollies, due to the fact that rooms were simply top notch. Guests who had stayed before noticed the continued investment in furnishings, and the modern decor and comfortable rooms kept them coming back.
Whether it was the restaurant or bar, guests had no complaints about their meals. Many satisfied diners had trouble coming up with enough favourable adjectives to describe the food served here, but in the end their empty plates did the talking.
Guests were impressed with the peaceful countryside location, which was just off the A303 highway. Convenient to get to, this hotel was also accessible to tourist must-sees like Wolf Hall, Montacute and Barrington House, as well as Burrow Hill Cider Farm. Bath and Exeter were also only an hour away.
Guests loved the breakfast, but weren't as thrilled that breakfast hours ended early. On weekends, some found that they had to get up earlier than they would have liked in order to be fed. If you aren't a morning person, this could be something to keep in mind.
Rather than winging it, guests recommended getting a detailed set of instructions before driving here. Most said that their journey was relatively easy once they knew exactly where they were going, but several cautioned that Hollies could be easy to miss.
While modern facilities are typically not a bad thing, some guests found that cottages lacked personality. Instead of the quaint and cosy English cottage that they were expecting, guests instead opened the door to find a fully modernised cottage that could pass as a city apartment. If you're looking for something out of the ordinary, this might not be it.
