Hotel rooms in historic surroundings on popular Södermalm in Stockholm. With views over Gamla Stan, Skeppsholmen, Djurgården and Stockholm’s inlet, our historical buildings are right on the edge of the lively SOFO area of Södermalm. We have 38 hotel rooms, with four room categories. Everything from the simplest standard with shared WC and shower to large, modern rooms. The hotel is located on top of the Erstaklippan, and is a calm oasis in the otherwise hectic whirl of Södermalm. When you pass the gate to Erstagatan 1, you are greeted by historical buildings, patios, views over Stockholm, a leafy park and much more besides. To honour our history and the many tales the site can tell, we have chosen to give our hotel categories names from the world of diaconia. Stay in historical surroundings with contemporary comforts Stora diakonisshuset (the main diaconia building) was completed in 1896. At that time, deaconesses and students lived and worked in the building. The former residential rooms are now used as hotel rooms, and our guests are fascinated by the feeling of going back in time yet being surrounded by modern comforts. Guests who choose to stay in a Sister room or Manager room stay in Stora diakonisshuset. Comfortable beds and peace. Our Alumni rooms are located in Martahuset, a newer extension of Stora diakonisshuset. The Alumni rooms don't have the same view as our other rooms, but have other advantages. They are located in a separate, quiet part of the building, are larger and a little cheaper. The beds in the single rooms are extra wide (120 cm). Extra-large rooms with contemporary Nordic décor. The director rooms are large, spacious and modern with contemporary décor. They are located in the most recent extension of the hotel and can be reached either by passing through the conference facility or via a separate entrance from the courtyard. These are the perfect rooms for anyone who wants a little extra luxury in terms of space, comfort, Nordic-inspired interiors and peace and quiet. All of the rooms have beautiful views, either over the rooftops of Södermalm or over the church park and Stockholm's inlet. Shared reception, lobby and breakfast room, separate lounge on every floor. Our hotel rooms are spread over several buildings, and to create a more intimate feeling we have created smaller lounges adjacent to each room category. On three of the floors there are also simple kitchenettes with a fridge and microwave oven. The reception and lobby are located on the ground floor in Stora diakonisshuset. Here you will find a sofa and TV area if you are looking for company. And if you don't have your own computer, there is one here that you can borrow. We have free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel and in all of our hotel rooms. Breakfast is served every day on the first floor in Stora diakonisshuset. The breakfast room on the conference floor has a high ceiling and its own terrace, which is very popular on warm days. Most of the products in the breakfast buffet are either organic or ecolabelled and local. For example, all of our bread comes from a local bakery.
