City Plus Rhodes Hotel (Rhodes Town, Greece)

The hotel is clean and all the members of staff are very friendly. Tariffs are really cheap, so the overall value is excellent.

You can easily walk to the beach and town centre from here and the hotel's bar is always open if you don't want to be bothered with any exercise at all! The beaches are great, though. Try Elli Beach, it's quieter! It's a 10 minute walk to the Old Town and 20 minutes to the new one. This Old Town location is closer to the beaches. It's well suited to self-catering ... out of the hotel and to the crossroads, there's a super bakery. They'll make up fresh sandwiches for you. There are several other convenience stores nearby and the local supermarket isn't far away.

This hotel - and the rooms - are ‘slow-burners'. They might not have an immediate appeal, but it quickly ‘grows' on you. *Oh … and there's a garden centre next door! Bathrooms are modern and bed linen is changed daily. Standards of cleanliness are very good. Some rooms have impressive views over the harbour.

Air conditioning in the rooms is noisy so, despite the heat ... most guests turn it off.

The Wi-Fi signal varies from OK, to being absolutely dire.

Not many Greek staff here; they all seem to be from Albania. There's the same loud music playing all the time. You may be inclined to wonder if the bar drinks are watered down and why are they served in plastic beakers? It's like a kids' nursery!
